Pastor Gail Whitcome Linstrom – “Be the Salt – To Make a Difference for Good and God,” – Verdugo Community Church February 9, 2025

In her sermon, “Be the Salt – To Make a Difference for Good and God,” Pastor Gail asks how we should respond to the confusion, controversy, and even despair in our world. She reminds us that Jesus and the early church lived is times like ours. In Matthew 5 Jesus admonished his followers to remember that they are the salt, keep and the light, that makes a difference in the world. In Luke 18 Jesus urges his followers to keep working for justice in the world with the story of the widow who by persistent petitioning got a corrupt judge to finally give her justice. Paul in 2 Timothy 3 echoes this when he reminds Timothy that he should look to the scripture for guidance and keep a clear head as he is telling others the Good News and carrying out the ministry God has given him. We need to do the same with everyone and every situation that God sends our way.
