VERDUGO COMMUNITY CHURCH SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE JUNE 8 2025

Pastor Gail Linstrom begins our service by welcoming all to worship and to participate in the life of our church family. In our responsive Call to Worship we invited the presence of the Holy Spirit in the four languages of our congregation. Dale Reynolds focus’s us with a reading from Psalm 104, and Luisa Fernandez opens us in prayer. Nick Baltazar, Caroline Sandoval, and Ed Manacop lead us in joyous singing. Greg Hart takes up the praises and concerns of our church, our city, and our world in the Prayers of the People. Pastor Gail concludes our service by leading us in Communion, and you are invited to participate.

 

In her sermon, “Embracing the Power of the Spirit,” Pastor Gail celebrates Pentecost Sunday and applies it to our experience today individually and as a church. God’s spirit has been at work since Creation, and she notes examples throughout the Old Testament. In Acts 2 the Holy Spirit falls upon all the believers as they are worshipping together. Jesus has told them that this would happen, and thus empowered they would tell the Good News about him “to the uttermost ends of the earth.” We as the church are the hands and feet of Jesus in our time and place, and are called out in faith with the Spirit to fulfill God’s plan for our church.
