VERDUGO COMMUNITY CHURCH WORSHIP SERVICE FEBRUARY 16, 2025

We begin our service with Pastor Gail Linstrom welcoming all to worship and to participate in the life of our church family. Pastor Gail leads a responsive Call to Worship, and Dale Reynolds centers our thoughts with a reading from Psalm 62. Albert Ramseyer opens us in prayer. Nick Baltazar, Caroline Sandoval, and Ed Manacop lead us in our praise singing. Greg Hart takes up the praises and concerns of the church, our city, and our world in the Prayers of the People.

 

In his sermon from Matthew 6:25 – 34, “Joy & Happiness in the Here and Now,” Chaplain David Saltzman looks at Jesus’s teaching about how we should approach life. There Jesus reminds his followers that they should put their trust and focus on God, who offers us life and provides beauty and bounty for all his creation, instead of focusing on what the world wants us to wear, eat, or worry about in the future. God wants us to live in the present, seeking first his kingdom for ourselves and others. God knows what we need and will provide. So we should stop worrying about the future and choose the life he offers in the here and now.
