VERDUGO COMMUNITY CHURCH WORSHIP SERVICE JULY 7, 2024

We begin our service with song. Pastor Gail welcomes all to worship and to participate in the life of our church family. Laura Vasquez calls us to worship with a reading from Jeremiah 17. Luisa Fernandez then opens us in prayer. Nick Baltazar and Ed Manacop lead us in our praise singing. Albert Ramseyer takes up the praises and concerns of the church and our world in the Prayers of the People.

 

In his sermon, “The Call to Rejuvenation,” Andrew Mumm uses Ezekiel 47 to remind us that God offers his healing love to us to share with others. There the prophet is shown a vision of water flowing from the Temple, first ankle high, then knee high, then waist high, and finally over his head. The water becomes a river that changes a salt sea to one that is full of fish and other life, while on its banks grow trees laden with fruit. Andrew points out that when we start to help others we may only just be able to get our feet and ankles wet. Then as our faith grows, we step into deeper waters, until we are swept along with the flood of God’s healing love. We should try each day to let more of God’s love flow through us, remembering God wants us to keep moving forward into a deeper relationship with him and with others.
