VERDUGO COMMUNITY CHURCH WORSHIP SERVICE JUNE 9, 2024

We begin our service with song. In Pastor Gail’s absence, Michael Blanco welcomes all to worship and to participate in the life of our church family and calls us to worship with a reading from Psalms 138. Luisa Fernandez then opens us in prayer. Nick Baltazar and Ed Manacop lead us in our praise singing. Greg Hart takes up the praises and concerns of the church and our world in the Prayers of the People.

 

Greg Hart encourages us with his message, “God’s Love, Faithfulness, and Compassion,” based on Psalms 145 and 146. Greg points out that the Psalms were the words to hymns expressing the feelings and beliefs of their authors. In these Psalms we are reminded that God created the world and continues to act to show his love and compassion to all generations, uplifting those who are in difficulties and feeding those who are hungry, looking after the foreigner, widows, and others who are marginalized by society. The people of God can trust God to look after them and those close to them, but we must also become the ways that God performs these acts of redemption, justice, and hope toward others, helping to bring closer the Kingdom of God.

 

Chaplain David Saltzman leads us in Communion. You are invited to participate in this sacrament as well.
