VERDUGO COMMUNITY CHURCH WORSHIP SERVICE MARCH 2, 2025

We begin our service with Pastor Gail Linstrom welcoming all to worship and to participate in the life of our church family. Dale Reynolds calls us to worship with a reading of Psalm 99 Caroline Sandoval opens us in prayer. Nick Baltazar, Ed Manacop and Caroline Sandoval lead us in our praise singing. Greg Hart takes up the praises and concerns of the church, our city, and our world in the Prayers of the People. Pastor Gail concludes our service by leading us in Communion, and you are invited to participate.

 

In her sermon, “Light and Love Shining Forth from Within,” Pastor Gail looks at the Transfiguration story in Luke 9 in the context of the transformation of Moses when he received the Law in Exodus 34. Paul’s reference to that in 2 Corinthians 3 applies to our times and lives. Jesus’ true divinity was revealed to Peter, James, and John at the Transfiguration just before Holy Week. In each situation God had been bringing his followers along on a journey. Paul affirmed that our lives are like letters to others, showing our relationship to God as we live our lives. Like Moses, we may not know that God’s love is shining through us when we help others, but we see examples of that every day in the actions of believers. Whether helping our church’s missions, feeding and clothing the homeless, or just being there for the lonely, we all have the chance to let’s God’s love shine into our world.
