VERDUGO COMMUNITY CHURCH WORSHIP SERVICE MARCH 9, 2025

We begin our service with Pastor Gail Linstrom welcoming all to worship and to participate in the life of our church family. Dale Reynolds calls us to worship with a reading from Psalm 130. Albert Ramseyer opens us in prayer. Nick Baltazar and Ed Manacop lead us in our praise singing. Greg Hart takes up the praises and concerns of the church, our city, and our world in the Prayers of the People. At the conclusion of the service, Pastor Gail leads us in Communion, in which you are invited to participate.

 

In his sermon from Mark 2:1 – 12, “The Powers of Grace and Mercy,” Chaplain David Saltzman looks at what it means to use the power of God’s love to show others grace and mercy. In that story to get around the crowd a paralyzed man is lowered by his friends through the roof of Jesus’s house so that he can be healed. Jesus first forgives the man’s sins. When the religious leaders present reject his ability to do this, he then heals the man in front of them and all those gathered there, demonstrating that he is indeed the promised Son of Man. God empowers us through grace to love and show others mercy.
