VERDUGO COMMUNITY CHURCH WORSHIP SERVICE NOVEMBER 13, 2022
Monday Nov 14, 2022
Monday Nov 14, 2022
We begin our service in song. Pastor Gail Linstrom welcomes all to worship and to participate in the life of our church family. Dale Reynolds calls us to worship with a reading from Psalm 40, and Jessica Jimenez opens us with prayer. Kim Cox, Jessica Jimenez, and Mike Minasyan lead us in praise and worship music. Greg Hart takes up the concerns of the church and our world in the Prayers of the People.
Pastor Gail in her sermon “God’s Presence Brings Peace and Joy” looks at the reality of the loss and grief we all experience, losses that are highlighted by the coming holidays. She calls us to remember the promises of God that he will be with us and his plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future. Jesus entered the world as one of us, experiencing our joys and pain and sorrows. Yet his life, death, and resurrection confirmed these promises of God. We need to seek the presence of God through the Holy Spirit in our lives, and have faith that God will be there with us in the dark days and nights.
After the sermon, all are offered the opportunity to go forward and light Candles of Memory and Hope to remember those we have lost and those things we wish to strive toward.
Pastor Gail then leads us in Communion, so you are invited to have bread or crackers and a beverage ready to participate in this sacrament.
Verdugo is again meeting in person but makes its Sunday sermons available to you on Facebook and posts audio copies of the service and sermon at https://verdugochurch.podbean.com.
