VERDUGO COMMUNITY CHURCH WORSHIP SERVICE NOVEMBER 17, 2024

We begin our service with song. Pastor Gail Linstrom welcomes all to worship and to participate in the life of our church family. Dale Reynolds calls us to worship reading from Psalm 86 and Michael Blanco gives our opening prayer. Nick Baltazar and Ed Manacop lead us in our praise singing. Greg Hart takes up the praises and concerns of the church and our world in the Prayers of the People.

 

In her sermon, “Discipleship and Prayer,” Pastor Gail concludes our study of the book of James by looking at how James 5 reminds us of the importance of prayer. James admonishes Christians to pray for each other for physical and spiritual healing, and to help each other when we are discouraged and liable to be led astray. Our prayers are heard and can be of tremendous power. While we do not always see the result we prayed for, we do see God working in our lives, and we draw nearer to God because we prayed. James’ mantra would be “pray, pray, pray,” and that is what we should always strive to do.
