VERDUGO COMMUNITY CHURCH WORSHIP SERVICE OCTOBER 16, 2022

We begin our service in song. Pastor Gail Linstrom welcomes all to worship and to participate in the life of our church family. Dale Reynolds calls us to worship with a reading from Psalm 34, and Albert Ramseyer opens us with prayer. Nick Baltazar and Mike Minasyan lead us in praise and worship music. Greg Hart takes up the concerns of the church and our world in the Prayers of the People. Pastor Gail in her sermon, “Making a Difference for Good – And God,” considers Jesus’s parable of the unjust judge who is compelled to give justice to the persistent widow in Luke 18, affirming that God hears our prayers for justice, however much resistance we seem to experience. In 2 Timothy 3 and 4 Paul affirms the need for Timothy to clearly teach the Scriptures and continue to lead his church faithfully, preparing and equipping them to spread the Good News and do every good work. Likewise, we at Verdugo Church must work together to seek justice and the welfare of the poor and marginalized in our neighborhood, our city and beyond.

 

Pastor Gail then leads us in Communion, so you are invited to have bread or crackers and a beverage ready to participate in this sacrament.
